Near East University has risen 2024 places in the “2025-40 World University Rankings” of METU URAP, becoming the only university in the top 10 in Cyprus. Among the top XNUMX Turkish universities, Near East University was also shown as one of the “Best Two Turkish Foundation Universities”.
The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory, operating under the Informatics Institute of Middle East Technical University (METU), announced the results of the “2024-2025 World University Rankings” through Anadolu Agency. 3,000 universities from Turkey were included in the list, which evaluates 126 universities worldwide and measures the academic productivity and scientific quality of universities. 1000 Turkish universities were among the top 11 worldwide. Near East University was the only university in Cyprus to be in the top 2024 in the “2025-10 World University Rankings” announced by URAP. Near East University, which is among the top XNUMX Turkish universities in Turkey, was also shown as one of the “Best Two Turkish Foundation Universities.”
In determining the ranking, six basic criteria were taken into consideration: number of articles, number of citations, total number of scientific documents, total publication impact, total citation impact and international collaborations. Near East University, which has shown a steady rise with its academic productivity, scientific research and international collaborations, has climbed 40 places in the world rankings.
1000 Turkish universities were in the top 11!
URAP's "2024-2025 World University Rankings" included 1000 Turkish universities among the top 11 worldwide. The Turkish universities in the top 1000 were Hacettepe University, Istanbul Technical University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, Koç University, METU, Gazi University, Ege University, Atatürk University, Near East University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. Near East University and Koç University were the two foundation universities among the top 10 universities.
