President Tugay at the 35th Poyracık Camel Show Festival

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay attended the 35th Poyracık Traditional Folkloric Camel Show Festival organized by Kınık Municipality. Stating that they will continue to support the festival that attracted great enthusiasm, Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay said, “I go to festivals. Wherever our people are, I am there. I respect this tradition that has been going on for centuries.”

The 35th Poyracık Traditional Folkloric Camel Show Festival organized by Kınık Municipality was a colorful spectacle. Hosted by Kınık Mayor Sema Bodur, the festival was attended by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay and his wife Öznur Tugay, Bayındır Mayor Davut Sakarsu, Dikili Mayor Adil Kırgöz, political party representatives, council members and thousands of citizens.

Tugay: I respect this tradition

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay said, “I also went to camel wrestling events in other districts. When I went, they said, ‘The Metropolitan Municipality Mayor will not come here.’ I said, ‘I will come.’ I will come, I will be where our people are. I respect this tradition that has been going on for centuries. I feel great love and loyalty for all our citizens here. Long live the Republic of Turkey, long live Izmir, long live Kınık.”

Bodur: We will continue to serve

Kınık Mayor Sema Bodur said, “Our Mayor Cemil Tugay gave us strength with his presence. He always stands by us. We are always in these fields. We will continue to serve for our country.”

The camels competed in a tough cup race at the festival. Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay presented the cups to the owners of camels named Kadir Baba Ares and Vabis Hakan, who competed in the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor's Cup.
