New Measures for Stray Animals from the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health has announced that it will take action and take measures following complaints about the presence of stray animals at the entrances and gardens of health institutions.

A letter was sent to 81 provinces by the General Directorate of Public Health

In the article, which emphasized public health, it was requested that the necessary measures be taken regarding stray animals, especially dogs, in health campuses and that coordination be established with local governments to remove stray animals that have entered health institutions.

In the article, attention was drawn to the fact that there have been findings recently indicating an increase in the number of stray animals at the entrances and gardens of health institutions. It was stated that the Ministry has received many complaints about this issue and that this situation has become a threat to the health of citizens applying to health institutions.

It was stated that stray animals, especially dogs, not only cause physical injuries to people, but also pose a risk in terms of diseases transmitted from animals and hygiene.

The article emphasized that the presence of stray animals in health facilities and campuses poses a serious threat to public health by negatively affecting both citizens' access to health services and the service delivery of health workers.

The article also included measures to be taken to prevent the problem. Accordingly; Under the coordination of the Governorships, in cooperation with local governments and relevant institutions, necessary measures will be taken within the framework of legal regulations and current legislation regarding stray animals, especially dogs, in health institutions and campuses.

The necessary physical measures will be completed immediately by the administrators responsible for the administrative operations of health institutions and campuses. Field checks will be carried out regularly. Stray animals entering health institutions and campuses will be removed from the campus. For all these; an effective coordination mechanism will be established between the administrators of health institutions and local governments.
