Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that the book “My Safe Internet”, prepared as a guide to inform children about the benefits and dangers of the internet, has been published.
Minister Göktaş stated that in the digital age, children actively use the internet in areas such as accessing information, communication, entertainment and games, but they can be exposed to dangers such as cyberbullying, misuse of personal data and content that is not appropriate for their age.
Minister Goktas spoke as follows:
“It is our common responsibility to protect our children, the most precious treasure that life offers us and the guarantee of our future, from the threats of the digital world as well as in the real world. In this context, as the Ministry, we have prepared the book 'My Safe Internet' to help our children use the internet consciously and become aware of possible risks. With our book "My Safe Internet", we aim to raise awareness among children between the ages of 6-10 about internet safety and to balance their screen time with digital break suggestions so that they can spend time in the real world.”
Minister Göktaş stated that it is important for parents to guide their children in consciously managing their internet usage, and noted the following:
“With the My Safe Internet booklet, while shaping children’s communication with the internet in an entertaining language, we also include mothers and fathers in this process. In this book that will guide them, we also include activities that will help them have a pleasant time with their children. In this way, we aim to ensure that our children spend time in off-screen activities and help them establish a balance between the digital world and real life.”
