Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Group, became the first and only rail system operator in the world to receive the Turkish Excellence Grand Award and 7 stars as a result of the competency assessment conducted by EFQM Turkey Representative KalDer.
Turkey's largest urban rail system operator, Metro İstanbul, has been awarded the Turkey Excellence Grand Award and 7 stars as a result of the competency assessment conducted by the Turkish Quality Association (KalDer) in line with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model. Thus, Metro İstanbul has become the only company in Turkey to be awarded 7 stars and the first and only rail system operator in the world to receive 7 stars.
The 12nd Turkey Excellence Award Ceremony, organized by KalDer within the scope of the 13rd Quality Congress on November 33 and 32, was held at the Kocaeli Congress Center. Dr. Özgür Soy, President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Group and President of the Metro Istanbul Management Group, received the award for Metro Istanbul.

Presenting the award to the people of Istanbul, Dr. Özgür Soy said: “This award includes the 3-year effort and sweat of 6.500 people who carry more than one-third of Istanbul’s transportation burden. We are responsible for providing transportation services to more than 5 million passengers every day. We have a system that has to work like a clock, where delays are measured in seconds, and we have a team that works day and night for our passengers. While receiving this award on their behalf, I would like to thank the people of Istanbul who encouraged us with their trust, and our President who opened this horizon for us with his vision.
