Mesopotamia City Park Will Breathe New Life into Diyarbakır

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will build the Mesopotamia City Park with an ecological approach on a total area of ​​216 thousand square meters in Kayapınar district.

The Department of Parks and Gardens continues to produce and implement projects to create green and recreational areas for citizens in Diyarbakır.

It will be built on an area of ​​216 thousand square meters

Mesopotamia City Park, one of the visionary projects that will breathe new life into the city, will be built on an area of ​​216 thousand square meters at the intersection of Mesopotamia-Diclekent Boulevards in Kayapınar district.

In this important project, where the Department of Parks and Gardens goes beyond the usual classical park, it will act with the motto of "Meeting Point of Nature and Humanity" and will realize the green area by completely observing the ecological balance.

The city's new park will feature rain gardens that will allow rainwater to be collected and reused. The park will be constructed entirely from materials such as wood and stone. Solar panels will also be used to increase energy efficiency, which will meet the park's lighting and other electrical needs.

Open air cinema and library to be built in the city

In the project where 129 thousand square meters will be allocated as green area, the entrance square will consist of 2 thousand 500 square meters and the main square will consist of 25 thousand 450 square meters. In the project where children's playgrounds will also be included, an open-air cinema will be created in an area of ​​2 thousand 165 square meters.

The squares to be created within the park will be designed in a way that all kinds of festivals, concerts and similar events can be easily organized.

In the project, which will have a significant impact on the city's quality of life, recreation areas will provide citizens with sports, picnicking and recreation opportunities in green areas.

The Department of Parks and Gardens is planning to build a plant collection section on an area of ​​14 square meters, a bicycle path on an area of ​​245 square meters, 4 social facilities, a walking path, sports areas and a parking lot in the park, where an open-air library will also be located.

Fun areas will be created for children

The Metropolitan Municipality will place play groups at two separate points for children in the park, which will appeal to everyone from 7 to 70. The play groups, which will be created with different concepts, will ensure that children have fun.

Events will be held in the open-air library

The open-air library, one of the important elements in the planned park, will host various activities, in addition to book reading.

Plants specific to the city will be preferred

The Department of Parks and Gardens will include sustainable plant patterns in the plant collection section, taking into account the ecological balance and suitable for the city's climate and that can grow in these lands.

The park will also feature water features

The Metropolitan Municipality will ensure the aesthetic appearance of the green area by including various water elements in the 216 thousand square meter city park. The water elements will consist of fountains and a dry pool.

After the feasibility studies are completed soon, the Department of Parks and Gardens will put out a tender for the construction of the Mesopotamia City Park and then start digging for the first excavation for the project area.
