At the Ministry of National Defense Weekly Press Briefing held on February 13, it was announced that the inspection and acceptance activities of the mini rotary wing UAV BOYGA, which was developed by STM and can drop ammunition, were completed by the Land Forces Command. With this development, BOYGA was included in the inventory and started to be used actively. STM successfully completed the delivery of BOYGA, which has been actively working in the field since 2022.
BOYGA's Role in the Fight Against Terrorism
BOYGA is actively involved in counter-terrorism, cross-border operations and international exercises. It has the ability to destroy targets precisely and effectively, especially against asymmetric threats, with the customized 81 mm mortar ammunition produced by MKE. BOYGA has also successfully performed in multinational exercises such as EFES-2024 and Winter Exercise-2025, hitting targets with full accuracy.
Export Success and International Users
Developed by STM, BOYGA stands out as an example of Turkey's national engineering capabilities in the defense industry. In 2024, BOYGA's first export was made and a country from the African continent became BOYGA's international user. STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz, in his statement following the export success, stated that this success allowed them to increase their production capacity to meet the demands of not only Turkey but also friendly and brotherly countries.
BOYGA's High Performance and Impact on the Field
As a system that can hit targets with precision from high altitudes, BOYGA has revealed how critical a role UAVs play in the field, especially in the Ukraine-Russia War. STM's national and original software, special ammunition and prediction algorithm make BOYGA a platform that is difficult for the enemy to detect. Güleryüz, while talking about the impact that BOYGA can create in the field, emphasized that this UAV offers serious advantages to users.
BOYGA not only joins the Land Forces Command inventory, but also draws attention with its export success in Turkey's defense industry. BOYGA, which is a domestic production, will continue to play an active role in the field with its national engineering capabilities and will continue to attract worldwide attention.
