Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared important information about the Ankara-Istanbul Super High Speed Train (SHT) project, one of Turkey’s most important railway projects. Turkey, which was introduced to high speed trains in 2009, has modernized its railway transportation over the years and will now take high speed train services one step further with this innovative project. The routes and speed targets announced by Minister Uraloğlu aim to place Turkey among the leading countries in railway transportation worldwide.
New Super Fast Train Route
Minister Uraloğlu also announced the route of the Super High Speed Train line planned to be built between Istanbul and Ankara. Considering that the current line will be insufficient in the coming years, the new line will pass through districts such as Nallıhan, Beypazarı and Akyazı. This new line will make intercity transportation faster and more comfortable, and will also significantly shorten travel times.
Super Fast Train: 350 km/h
The speed that the new line will reach will revolutionize Turkey's railway transportation. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the new train will reach a speed of 350 km per hour. At this speed, the distance between Ankara and Istanbul will be covered in just 80 minutes. This will be Turkey's fastest train service and will offer a world-class transportation experience. The reduction of travel times will also provide significant benefits for business and tourism.
Project Timeline and Future
The Super High Speed Train project is expected to take approximately 10 years to complete. When the project is complete, the Istanbul-Ankara line will have an infrastructure that can compete with the fastest railway lines in Europe. The project, which is expected to provide great benefits both economically and environmentally, will symbolize the leap forward in Turkey's railway transportation.
The Super High Speed Train project promises to be one of Turkey’s revolutionary steps in railway transportation. With this project announced by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, distances in Turkey’s intercity transportation will be shortened and passengers will enjoy high-speed travel.
