
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Home Care teams set out early in the morning to deliver health services to all corners of Izmir. Providing bath, personal care, hairdresser, house cleaning, psychological support and small repair services to citizens in need, the teams touch the hearts of Izmir residents.
The needy Izmir residents who are in socio-economic poverty and deprivation, who cannot continue their daily activities on their own, the sick, elderly and disabled continue to benefit from the services of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department Healthy Living and Home Care Branch Directorate. Home Care teams set out early in the morning to provide personal care once every two weeks, hairdresser once every four weeks, house cleaning once every five weeks, psychological support and mini repair services at varying periods depending on the status of the cases. The service network, which has spread to every point of Izmir, is also welcomed by those in need.
“We are trying to provide service to all of Izmir”
Describing the Home Care service, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Health Affairs Department Healthy Living and Home Care Branch Manager Dr. Nihat Mermer said, “As a directorate, we provide bath, personal care, hairdresser, house cleaning, psychological support and minor repair services in line with the demands of citizens who are elderly, bedridden and ill and therefore unable to meet their own needs. During the day, four teams provide services for house cleaning, nine teams for personal care, three teams for hairdresser and one team provides services for minor repair. As of 09.00:XNUMX in the morning, we are trying to provide service to all of Izmir.”
“They are sweeping my house clean”
Kiraz Kamiloğlu, 80, who lives alone, said that she cannot clean her house due to her illness, and for this reason she receives house cleaning service at certain intervals. Stating that she is very pleased with the service, Kamiloğlu said, “May God give long life to those who clean my house. I am very pleased. I live alone. My knees have undergone surgery, I have a problem in my neck. I cannot clean. They call me and ask, ‘Are you home?’ They come, clean and sweep my house. May God be pleased a thousand times over with those who send them here.”

Fatma Güler, the sister of 60-year-old Musa Bal, also said that her brother became disabled after a traffic accident. Güler, who stated that she received bathroom and hairdresser services for her brother from the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, said, “We are very pleased with the service, may God bless you a thousand times. The teams that come motivate my brother. He becomes happy and glad when he hears that the teams are coming. It is a good thing that such a service exists.”

Citizens who apply for Home Care services are provided support if certain conditions are met. In the study, which is based on different criteria under each service title, visits are made by the social investigation team. In this way, citizens in need can receive one, several or all of the services.
