Historical Transportation Investments Continue in Izmir

The historical transportation investments of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continue at full speed. In Karabağlar, 1 percent progress has been achieved in two months in the 40-kilometer new connection road project to be opened between Dostluk Boulevard and Coşkun Kale Street, which will solve the traffic problem of the Bozyaka region. The new development road project that will connect Eskiizmir Street and Yeşillik Street will provide a great breath of fresh air to the district's traffic.

The historic transportation investments initiated by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay to relieve urban traffic are being carried out simultaneously in all four corners of the city. Teams have made great progress in a short time on the Dostluk Boulevard Connection Road Project, which was started by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Technical Affairs last December and will provide a breath of fresh air to Karabağlar traffic.

40 percent progress in two months

The project, which will be completed with an investment of approximately 100 million liras, is continuing rapidly, said İsmet Ürem, the Map Engineer of the Road Superstructure Branch Directorate of the Department of Technical Affairs, “We are currently continuing the wall manufacturing to widen the road. Our President Cemil is also closely interested in the project. We have made 40 percent progress since December. We are opening a new development road on the approximately 1-kilometer road between the Dostluk Boulevard Junction and Coşkun Kale Street. We are trying to widen the existing roads and ease the traffic in the Karabağlar region and throughout İzmir. We will also build new pedestrian and bicycle paths within the scope of the project.”

Road and infrastructure are being renewed together

Ürem, who stated that infrastructure works were continuing in the region simultaneously with the road works upon the instructions of President Dr. Cemil Tugay, said, “The sewerage, natural gas lines, and electricity lines are also being renewed. We are preventing repeated excavations. We are continuing our work with 3 teams at the Dostluk Boulevard Junction, Coşkun Kale Street intersection, and in front of Bozyaka Pazaryeri. We plan to complete the project in the first half of 2025.”

It will give a breath of fresh air to Karabakh traffic

Thanks to the project, a new development road will be opened between Karabağlar Dostluk Boulevard and Coşkun Kale Street, and Eskiizmir Street and Yeşillik Street will be connected. The project, which will be an alternative to Eskiizmir Street and will significantly ease the district traffic, will have a 950-meter connection road with two arrivals and two departures. The connection road, which will solve the traffic congestion in Karabağlar Bozyaka, Sarıyer and Sevgi neighborhoods, will become safer and more comfortable for vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles.
