Disaster Coordination Workshop in Izmir Begins on February 19

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will organize the Izmir Disaster Coordination Workshop on February 19. The workshop will bring together experts in the field, where the work to be done during and after a possible disaster will be evaluated in detail from a holistic perspective.

The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Affairs Department will organize the Izmir Disaster Coordination Workshop. The workshop, which will be held on February 19 at the Historical Gas Factory, will address five main topics on what needs to be done during and after a disaster. The program, which will bring together experts in the field, will focus on earthquake-related planning in particular. New scenarios will be developed on infrastructure and logistics, coordination and communication, technological tools and data use, humanitarian aid and emergency response. The workshop will also evaluate topics such as education, on-site and off-site applications, volunteer management and support for disadvantaged individuals.

Inter-institutional cooperation and coordination

The Disaster Coordination Workshop will evaluate in detail the basic needs and intervention methods that may arise during and after a possible earthquake in Izmir. The steps to be taken to strengthen cooperation and coordination between institutions, to disseminate technological tools and data sharing, and to deepen education and awareness activities will be determined. In this way, the city and society will be able to respond more resiliently, quickly and efficiently to post-disaster processes.
