At least 41 people have died in a crash involving a bus in southern Mexico, the government in Tabasco state said.
Footage showed the bus completely gutted after it was engulfed in flames following the collision near the small town of Escarcega in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Acosta, from bus operator Tour, said there were 48 passengers in the vehicle travelling from Cancun to Tabasco when it collided with a "trailer".
Tour's Acosta said they were "very sorry about what happened" and that the bus was travelling within the speed limit, adding that they were working with authorities to find out the cause.
“The public ministry has informed us that the investigation will take effect in the prosecutor's office of the municipality of Candelaria, Campeche, so the relatives of our passengers and friends will have to go to this department to carry out the relevant procedures,” Tour's Acosta wrote on Facebook.
Authorities said they would provide an update on the number and identities of the victims later Saturday
