DHMİ's First Domestic Training Simulator Will Be Used in Triple Runway Operations

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the first domestic and national training simulator developed by DHMİ will be used for 3-runway operations.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the training given in Turkey's first domestic and national air traffic controller training simulator developed by the State Airports Authority (DHMİ) and TÜBİTAK.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that they made an important update to the simulator used in the basic training of air traffic controllers within the DHMİ and said, “We will provide support training to our air traffic controllers in our local simulator within the scope of the simultaneous independent 3-runway operations that we will start at Istanbul Airport soon. 360D models of airports will be used in the trainings provided with the modeling we created in the 3-degree visual tower environment. In this way, we will contribute to the training processes of our air traffic controllers while implementing the application, which will be a first in Europe.”

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the training capacity given to the personnel who will work in this field has increased significantly with the air traffic controller training simulator, and underlined that the simulator application has held an important place in the Turkish aviation page for many years.

Air Traffic Controllers Reinforce Their Training with Simulators

Minister Uraloğlu, emphasizing that trainee air traffic controllers reinforce their theoretical knowledge with realistic scenarios using the domestic simulator, said, “With the arrangements we have made, we will also provide opportunities for active duty air traffic controllers to gain experience with advanced training and challenging operational scenarios. At the same time, we will contribute to the development of their basic knowledge and skills for the profession by increasing the number of training repetitions.”

180 Degree Training Simulator Installed at Esenboğa Aviation Academy

Minister Uraloğlu, who announced that 2 180-degree Aerodrome Control Simulator Systems developed by DHMİ were installed at Esenboğa Aviation Academy within the scope of the domestic simulator project, said, “We have also installed the 21-position Approach and Area Control Simulator System at the Air Traffic Control Center in Ankara.” Minister Uraloğlu stated that the 3D simulator models of Sabiha Gökçen Airport were integrated into the existing simulator systems at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue, and emphasized that the training processes will continue in a more comprehensive manner.
