
Van Büyükşehir Belediyespor's skiers returned with 2 medals from the first round of the Turkish Ski Federation Alpine Turkey Championship Qualification Competitions held in Erzurum. Beritan Paycu came first in the women's U-16 age group, while Muhammed Emir Keskin came third in the men's U-16 category.
The Turkish Ski Federation Alpine Skiing Turkey Championship 13st Round Elimination Competitions, which were attended by 14 competitors at the Palandöken Ski Center in Erzurum province on January 600-1, have been completed. Van athletes left their mark on the U-14 and U-16 girls and boys competitions. In the competitions where 8 athletes from different clubs represented Van province, Beritan Paycu, who competed with the Van Büyükşehir Belediyespor jersey, became the Turkish champion in the U-16 women's category, while Muhammed Emir Keskin came in 16rd in the men's U-3 category.
The medals were given to the athletes who won by Turkish Ski Federation Vice President Tarkan Soyak, Board Members Mustafa Yıkıcı, Nazım Söğüt, Disciplinary Board President Cafer Nuroğlu and coaches.
'We have seen what our athletes can do if they are given the opportunity'
Stating that they achieved success in the first tournament they participated in with the newly established Ski branch, Büyükşehir Belediyespor Club President Erdem Dara said that they will make more efforts to continue the success. Emphasizing that they will continue to support sports and athletes as a municipality, Dara said, “We know that there are talented children in this branch in the region. We live in a region that is suitable for this sport, such as Artos, Hakkari and Ağrı, right next to us. The successes we have achieved in a short time have shown us what our athletes can do if they are given the opportunity. We hope that our successes will continue.”
The date and venue of the 2nd round of the Turkish championship will be determined by the federation in the coming days and notified to the clubs.
