
The Ministry of Industry and Technology announced that the documentary "Beyond the Horizon" will meet the audience with its first screening on Saturday, January 18, at the AKM, following a gala screening along with a prepared exhibition.
According to the statement made by the ministry, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, the crescent and star were carried into space and the first Turkish astronaut was sent to the International Space Station with a science mission, one of the 10 goals determined within the scope of the National Space Program.
Alper Gezeravcı, who was selected from among 36 thousand people by passing difficult physical and psychological tests, carried out 13 different experiments in a wide range of areas such as biology, medicine, materials science and genetics at the International Space Station. This was Turkey's first manned space mission.
The documentary “Beyond the Horizon” brings this historical turning point to the screen with behind-the-scenes processes.
The documentary also features the journey of Tuva Cihangir Atasever, who took over the torch from Gezeravcı and carried out a suborbital research flight.
During the two-year shooting process for the comprehensive documentary, a 15-person documentary crew, directed by Burcu Camcıoğlu, recorded 12 hours of footage in 280 cities across four countries. During the time spent in space, Gezeravcı's footage and footage provided by NASA and the AXIOM Space team were used.
More than 20 interviews were conducted. The documentary, which took about a year to post-production, will meet the audience as a 90-minute production, recording the most important moments of the whole process.
The documentary “Beyond the Horizon”, the story of Turkey’s first manned space mission coordinated by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, TÜBİTAK and the Turkish Space Agency, will meet the audience with its first screening on TRT 18 at 2025:1 after the gala screening to be held together with a prepared exhibition at the Atatürk Cultural Center on Saturday, January 00, 00. The documentary will also be presented to the public via digital platforms and TV channels.
