A New Era in Turkey's Space Travel: Beyond the Horizon Documentary

Organized by the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of Industry and Technology, TÜBİTAK and the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) “Beyond the Horizon” The premiere of the documentary was held at the Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center. This important event revealed the current state of Turkish space studies and future goals.

Alper Gezeravcı's Space Journey

Speaking at the gala, Minister of Industry and Technology Oguzhan Kacir, reminded that a year ago, the countdown was made for the space journey of the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı. The excitement of those days symbolizes the interest and commitment of the Turkish nation to space research. Kacır said, “In fact, our wait was not just for those days. Since the first space journey of mankind, we have wanted to have an astronaut who would carry our crescent and star flag into space.”

Consciousness of Being a Nation and Common Pride

Kacır emphasized the importance of the Turkish nation being united and together in pain, sorrow, joy and pride. He underlined the consciousness of being a nation by saying, “It is to put our differences aside and experience the same excitement together at the same time.” He stated that the successes of athletes and artists like Naim Süleymanoğlu reinforce the common joys of the society.

A New Era in Space: Turkish Youth and Technology

Kacır stated that the sweat and effort of Turkish youth has begun to soar in the sky. Projects such as BAYRAKTAR, ANKA, AKINCI and HÜRKUŞ symbolize Turkey's success in space studies. He emphasized that the Turkish nation's self-confidence in the science and technology race has increased, saying, "We are now on a brand new journey of no return."

Importance of Space Science Mission

Kacır, who stated that the manned space science mission carried out by Alper Gezeravcı opened a new page in terms of the Turkish nation's pursuit of scientific studies, said, "We are now in this race. We are excited to do more." The Turkish nation's interest in space research is increasing day by day, and this situation reinforces the youth's belief in the future.

Scientific Experiments in Space and Future Vision

Minister Kacır stated that 13 scientific experiments were carried out in space within the scope of this mission and that a new page was opened for the Turkish scientific world. He stated that “a period has begun in which Turkish youth and children will not give up on any dreams.” Turkey is gaining a respected position worldwide with the projects it has carried out in space and is developing international collaborations in this field.

Turkey's Space Goals

Kacır clearly outlined Turkey’s goals in manned space exploration. “Turkey will now be a country that contributes to the installation of space station research modules with the technology systems it develops,” he said. These goals present an important opportunity for Turkish youth to realize their dreams.

Kacır thanked the documentary director Burcu Camcıoğlu and her team, the first astronauts Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever, the families who raised them and everyone who contributed to the project. “As we succeed, we feel that we are not the only ones who are happy. The hearts of everyone who keeps watch for humanity beat with us,” he said, summarizing the impact of these achievements on society.

Alper Gezeravcı stated that they took a step into space in the 100th year of the Republic and ensured that young people were carried into the depths of space. He emphasized that Turkey would further increase its current capacity with space collaborations and that this process would continue. In this context, he thanked President Erdoğan and the Turkish nation and offered a hopeful perspective for the future.
