
Entertech Istanbul Technopark, one of Turkey's most successful technoparks, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building it will build within the scope of the development of its physical infrastructure. Istanbul University Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Rector Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın and Entertech Istanbul Technopark General Manager Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu hosted the groundbreaking ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the new building of Entertech İstanbul Teknokent, which is the only Teknokent in Turkey where two R&D universities are stakeholders, was held within the scope of the development of its physical infrastructure. The groundbreaking ceremony hosted by İstanbul University President Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa President Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın and Entertech İstanbul Teknokent General Manager Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu was also attended by Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır. The new building, which is located next to the Entertech İstanbul Teknokent administration building and will consist of 12 thousand square meters, is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. The building, where common areas will be arranged within the framework of modern architecture, will feature automatic fire detection and extinguishing systems, VRV air conditioning heating and cooling systems, indoor parking, and electric charging stations. Equipped work areas will be created for the R&D companies to be located in the new building. The companies within the Teknokent will develop their new business ideas here and will also be able to establish faster collaborations with other companies by taking place in the ecosystem.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said, “We are here together on the occasion of the groundbreaking ceremony of the new building of Entertech Istanbul Teknokent, where academic knowledge and experience come together with technology entrepreneurship in the partnership of Istanbul University and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. Entertech Istanbul Teknokent has undertaken important works that will increase the ecosystem value of Istanbul, the shining star of Europe in entrepreneurship, with the projects and programs it has developed in recent years. With the accelerator and incubation programs it has carried out and the venture capital it has implemented, it has not only provided physical opportunities to our entrepreneurs, but also become a center of attraction for innovative projects to sprout and grow. We follow with appreciation that Entertech Istanbul Teknokent has undertaken a nurturing role in the ecosystem in order to create new success stories in technology entrepreneurship. We see the new building of Entertech Istanbul Teknokent, the foundation of which we will be laying, with a total indoor area of 12 thousand square meters, as an important link in Entertech's recent successful initiatives. "With its modern infrastructure and innovative opportunities, we will hopefully complete this facility, which will meet the physical needs for the emergence and scaling of original initiatives, by the end of this year and offer it to the service of our technology ecosystem. As the Ministry of Industry and Technology; we will continue to support every step taken to carry our country to the giants' league in technology entrepreneurship," he said.
It will host strong technology companies with a globalization vision.
Speaking at the ceremony and stating that their new building will host strong technology companies with a globalization vision, Entertech General Manager Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu said, “We have five main goals that will start in 2025 and on which we will build our work for 4 years. These can be listed as internationalization, offering differentiated programs to develop enterprise and R&D companies, ease of access to funds, specialized clustering and development of Entertech Istanbul Teknokent physical infrastructure. We have started the construction of our new building within the scope of our goal of developing Entertech Istanbul Teknokent physical infrastructure. Our building was designed to expand the services we offer to the technology development ecosystem and to provide a stronger infrastructure to our entrepreneurs and R&D companies. This investment also aims to provide a working environment at global standards in a way that supports our internationalization goal.”

Kasapoğlu, who stated that the new buildings will provide more R&D companies with large and well-equipped areas, allowing them to conduct their activities in a more modern and effective environment, underlined that this investment is also an important step for the national technology initiative. Noting that the employment of R&D personnel has an important place in technology development and that they will increase employment in the new building within this scope, Kasapoğlu concluded his words as follows: “With our current infrastructure, we host more than 160 R&D companies. With the work of these companies, we are in an important position both in the index ranking and in our country’s technology exports. With this building, we aim to contribute to the implementation of high-impact programs and projects in order to develop Turkey’s technological competence, which is one of the goals of the national technology initiative. Today, we are not only building a physical area of 12 thousand square meters; we are also implementing a vision that will contribute to our country’s goal of 2030 Turcorns and 100 thousand technology initiatives in 100, increase its competitive power in the international arena, support entrepreneurs and add value to technology. With our new additional building, we will increase the employment of R&D personnel and the area capacity where our companies can carry out their research and development activities.”
