This year is the 9th Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition, continues to shed light on social issues. This prestigious competition, which is held with a different theme every year, this year "Climate Migration“, aims to draw attention to the effects of climate change and the magnitude of forced migrations resulting from it. Climate change has become a problem affecting millions of people around the world. At this point, the Sabancı Foundation’s short film competition plays a major role in increasing social awareness.
Purpose and Importance of the Competition
Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition is more than just a film competition, it is a platform that addresses social issues. This year's theme is "Climate Migration" covers the issues of natural disasters caused by climate change and the displacement of people as a result of these disasters. Awards and Judging Criteria
The films that will win the competition will be evaluated according to the criteria determined by the jury members. The criteria include the work's relevance to the social theme, creativity and memorability. The first place winner of the competition will be awarded 60 thousand TL, the second place winner 40 thousand TL, and the third place winner and the winner of the Social Impact Award 25 thousand TL. These awards provide great incentive for the participants to demonstrate both their artistic and social values.
History of the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition
Organized since 2017 Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition, has created an important platform in the field of short films. Looking at the history of the competition, a total of 2 film applications were made and this year 106 short film applications were received from 36 cities in Turkey. This situation shows that the competition is attracting increasing interest and its importance in addressing social issues.
