
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, through its transportation company BURULAŞ, reached a capacity of 2024 million passengers in urban public transportation in 334. While more than 63 thousand people benefited from night services, 54 million 358 thousand 807 people traveled free of charge thanks to the subsidy provided by the Metropolitan Municipality.
334 million passengers per year
Implementing new projects to ease transportation and increase comfort, one of the most important issues in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality strengthens BURULAŞ's transportation fleet on the one hand, while also undertaking works that make citizens' lives easier. Announcing its 2024 data, BURULAŞ, the transportation company of the Metropolitan Municipality, transported a total of 229 million 407 thousand 883 citizens from one place to another in the last year, 104 million 488 thousand 143 people by buses and 333 million 896 thousand 26 people by all rail systems. Thus, 628 thousand people were transported by buses and 286 thousand people were transported by rail systems per day.
World tour every day with Bursaray
Bursaray, which is the backbone of public transportation, has covered a total of 19 million 582 thousand 400 kilometers, while buses have covered 139 million 632 thousand 210 kilometers and trams have covered 897 thousand 956 kilometers. Bursaray, which covers a distance of approximately 54 thousand kilometers per day, virtually takes a world tour every day; buses, which cover a distance of approximately 383 thousand kilometers per day, virtually take a world tour 9 times per day.
Great interest in night flights
In 2024, a total of 54 million 358 thousand 807 people traveled free of charge thanks to the subsidies provided by the Metropolitan Municipality. A total of 35 thousand 965 people, 27 thousand 219 of whom were Bursaray and 63 thousand 184 were buses, benefited from the night services implemented upon the demands of the citizens. 853 thousand 110 people preferred Bursa Sea Buses (BUDO), which provides quality, economical and safe sea transportation between Bursa and Istanbul. While 25 thousand 298 retired citizens benefited from the discount application on BBBUS operating under Burulaş, 80 thousand 3 passengers were carried on the 257T line providing transportation from Kent Meydanı to Yenişehir Airport.
Number of boardings with student discounts: 97 million
A total of 2 million 33 thousand 939 parkings were made in open parking lots under the responsibility of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and 1 million 362 thousand 139 parkings were made in closed parking lots. While 441 thousand 141 vehicles departed from Bursa Bus Terminal throughout the year, 12 million 675 thousand 540 passengers passed through. In the ‘Pay as you go’ application implemented by the Metropolitan Municipality in order to encourage public transportation in Bursa, 1 million 928 thousand 5 refunds were made. In Bursa, where the cheapest service in Turkey is offered with the 5 TL student ticket, the number of boardings with the student discount was 97 million 108 thousand 862. 52 thousand 588 passengers were carried on the gulf services, which were implemented years later and provide intra-city sea transportation. On the other hand, 5 thousand 482 transactions were made on the Bursakart mobile vehicle, which was put into service in order to carry out BursaKart transactions quickly and easily.
