AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC organized the “Open Door Day” event for the fourth year in a row at the Akkuyu nuclear power plant built by the Russian State Nuclear Corporation Rosatom in Turkey. During the online broadcast, the first generation of Turkish nuclear engineers provided information about the implementation of the project, the main equipment and principles of the NPP operation, and the training of NPP operators.
The 15-minute broadcast featured images of key facilities at the power plant, including the reactor compartment and engine room of the 1st Power Unit, sea and land hydraulic structures, and the Personnel Training Center.
After meeting with Turkish engineers who guided the “Open Door Day” event, General Manager of AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş. Sergey Butckikh told the audience:
“We have started full-scale commissioning work at Power Unit 2024 in 1. My colleagues, experienced Turkish engineers, will tell and show you the most interesting details. Our project team is working day and night devotedly to make the dream of a modern, powerful and reliable nuclear power plant of the Republic of Turkey a reality. Currently, more than 34 thousand people work here, 28 thousand of whom are Turkish citizens. Hundreds of young Turkish engineers will be directly involved in the operation of the plant. Turkish engineers have received and continue to receive basic education at the best universities. They receive practical training at active nuclear power plants and will have the opportunity to apply their unique knowledge both at Akkuyu nuclear power plant and in other nuclear energy sector projects in Turkey. Openness and transparency are important components of the nuclear power plant project, so we will continue to inform the people of Mersin and all of Turkey about all the important activities of the project in various formats, including young engineers whom we see as representatives of nuclear technology.”
