NASA Shares Details of Firefly's Commercial Robotic Moon Launch

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that the broadcast scope for Firefly's First Commercial Robotic Moon Launch has been determined.

According to NASA's statement, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1 mission, which carries NASA's science and technology to the Moon as part of NASA's CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative and Artemis campaign, aims to launch on Wednesday, January 15. The mission will be carried out from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket, from Launch Complex 39A.

Following the launch, Firefly's Blue Ghost lander will travel toward the Moon for approximately 45 days before landing on the lunar surface, the statement said. "It will land on the lunar surface in early March. The lander will carry 10 scientific probes that will deepen NASA's understanding of the lunar environment and prepare for future human lunar missions as part of the agency's Moon-to-Mars exploration approach."
