With the application made by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in coordination with Urla Municipality and Urla Bağ Yolu Association, Urla Bağ Yolu was selected among the 2024 Green Destinations Top 100 Good Practices. Urla Bağ Yolu was included in the list in 100, where Efeler Yolu was included in 2023. Thus, Izmir has won an international award in the field of sustainable tourism for two years in a row. Urla Bağ Yolu is now a finalist for the 2024 Green Destinations People's Choice Award. The voting process for the People's Choice Award has begun at the award ceremony to be held at the world's largest tourism fair ITB Berlin.

Certification work continues
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which is a member of the International Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), continues its efforts to obtain the “Sustainable Tourism Destination Certificate” given by the Council. In the studies initiated by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tourism Branch Directorate with Green Destinations, the GSTC accreditation institution, in 2024, Selçuk and Urla certification studies are carried out together with stakeholders.

The People’s Choice Award allows the public to vote for all participants in the Top 2024 Stories for 100. Everyone can choose their favourite destination via an online voting form on the Green Destinations website.
“Discovering Urla’s Wine Heritage: The Birth of Urla Vineyard Road”
Urla Vineyard Road was established in 2013 by seven local organizations to support the increasing number of wine producers in the region. The project aims to revive Urla’s historical wine culture, increase cooperation among wine producers and encourage sustainable local development. The route, which includes 10 different wine producers, has become a model for sustainable tourism by emphasizing cultural heritage protection and environmentally friendly practices. Urla Vineyard Road has extended the tourism season and contributed to regional economic growth.
