Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that they will provide a one-time cash aid of 1 thousand liras for the first birth of children born on January 2025, 5, and said, “We are switching to a regular aid of 1500 liras for the second child. A support that will be deposited into the mother's account every month. A support of 5 thousand liras as of the third child. This support will continue as 3 thousand liras for the third and subsequent children.”
Göktaş stated that they decided on the good news announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan within the scope of the Family Year in the Population Policies Board, and said that one of these decisions was to expand the interest-free loan support to young people who will get married within the scope of the Family and Youth Fund to all 81 provinces.
Göktaş reminded that they first started this work in the 6 provinces most affected by the February 5 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, and said, “The application process started with the announcement of our President to spread it to 81 provinces. They can also apply via e-Government. We reached the number of 4 in just 4 hours.”
Recalling that in 2015, a one-time birth aid of 300 lira was given for the first-born child, 400 lira for the second child, and 600 lira for the third child, Göktaş emphasized that they were carrying out new work on aid to encourage fertility within this scope.
Minister of Family and Social Services Göktaş continued his words as follows:
“As of January 1, 2025, we will provide a one-time cash aid of 5 liras for the first birth. January 1, 2025 is a support program we launched as part of the Year of Family. We are switching to a regular aid of 1500 liras for the second child. A support that will be deposited into the mother's account every month. As of the third child, a support of 5 liras. This is also a monthly support that will be deposited into the mother's account. This support will continue as 3 liras for the third and subsequent children. I would like to emphasize that we provide aid without any criteria. They only need to apply. I would like to emphasize that our child aid will continue until our children turn 5.”
“We will expand our ministry’s existing nurseries to all of Turkey”
Göktaş stated that in their research, the fertility rate of housewives was determined to be 1,72 and the fertility rate of working women was determined to be 1,38.
Explaining that they brought flexible working models for women to the agenda, Göktaş said, “Our President also stated this yesterday. We are working on this issue. We will share the developments regarding this with the public in the coming period.”
Minister Göktaş stated that nursery aid is also very important in this process and noted the following:
“We are taking really important steps in this regard. Our ministry already had existing nurseries, we will spread them all over Turkey. We are also implementing different care models such as the ‘neighbor mother’ system. Our aim is to support both mothers and fathers during their marriage process when they become parents and to provide them with all kinds of support without forcing them to choose between work and life cycle. It is very valuable to implement flexible working models used on a global scale.”
Emphasizing that they will implement many projects to strengthen the family with governorships and ministries within the scope of the Year of the Family, Göktaş stated that many events such as the International Family Summit and the Family Film Festival will be organized.
