Greece to Build 'Missile Wall and Air Defense Dome'

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, in his latest statements, provided important information about the new strategy to be followed to strengthen his country’s national security. In his speech at the event held in Patras, Dendias emphasized the aim of further strengthening defense systems, especially in the Aegean and the Archipelago Sea, and stated that innovative steps will be taken in Greece’s understanding of security.

National Unity and Defense Force

Dendias stated that an arms race should be avoided, but that different and creative solutions should be developed to increase the defense capacity of his country. “The most important thing is not our new ships, planes or weapons, but the commitment of our society and our leaders as a whole,” he said, drawing attention to the need for a collective approach to national security. According to Dendias, this national unity and the general contribution of society lie at the basis of the reforms in the armed forces.

Dendias also made statements regarding Greece’s defense spending, emphasizing that the defense budget must contribute to economic growth. However, he stated that this should only be done without engaging in an arms race and without disrupting the country’s financial balance. The Greek government aims to strengthen homeland defense with creative solutions against neighboring countries that are larger in population and much stronger in terms of defense spending.

Anti-UAV Systems and Innovative Military Solutions

Dendias announced that Greece will continue its aim to increase domestic production in the military field and develop independent solutions. The domestic anti-UAV system called Kentavros, developed at the Greek innovation center, has successfully passed tests and neutralized two unmanned aerial vehicles in real conditions. This development is considered an important step towards reducing Greece's dependence on foreign sources in the defense industry.

Kentavros offers a critical innovation for defense systems in the Aegean and the Aegean Sea, while increasing confidence in Greece’s defense industry. Dendias said that the provision of such innovative products by domestic manufacturers will both strengthen national security and contribute to the Greek economy.

Missile Wall and Air Defense Dome

The Greek Defense Minister announced new projects to strengthen the defense infrastructure in the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Islands. These include an air defense missile shield and anti-UAV systems to be installed throughout the country. In addition, a missile wall to be built in the Sea of Islands aims to make the region impassable. These projects stand out as an important innovation in Greece's military defense strategy.

Dendias said that the Greek navy and air force have been performing their defensive duties perfectly and that they will now take steps to further advance these achievements. The missile wall and air defense dome will allow Greece to defend both its airspace and its maritime borders more effectively.

A Strong and Innovative Defense Strategy

Nikos Dendias’ statements signal that Greece will pursue a stronger and more innovative strategy to strengthen its national security. The Greek government aims to reduce external dependency by increasing domestic production while carefully managing defense spending. The missile wall and air defense dome projects in the Archipelago strengthen Greece’s regional security, while innovative solutions in the defense industry strengthen the country’s military capacity.
