
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has allocated €10,6 million in financing to support the development of transport infrastructure in Odesa, Ukraine. The financing aims to improve the quality of urban transport in Odesa by purchasing eight new, modern trams. The new trams will further modernise public transport, increase passenger comfort and alleviate the challenges of the existing transport system.
Modernization of Odessa's Tram Fleet
Odesa received 2023 new trams of the K2024T1 model, manufactured by Tatra-Yug, in 306-13. These new vehicles have become an important part of the city’s tram fleet and are an important step towards modernizing public transport. The new financing from the European Investment Bank will further strengthen Odesa’s tram fleet, improving the quality of transport within the city.
EIB Support for Ukraine's Infrastructure Modernization
The European Investment Bank actively supports the modernization of Ukraine’s infrastructure. In addition to financing the purchase of trams in Odessa, the bank also plans to finance the purchase of trams in the cities of Dnipro and Kamianske. Such investments play an important role in strengthening Ukraine’s urban transport networks and improving the quality of life of its population.
New Deliveries and International Successes from Tatra-Yug
Tatra-Yug is a major supplier of tram projects in Ukraine. In 2021, the company delivered the first low-floor tram K1T306 to Kiev. This tram was followed by the production and delivery of 20 three-section trams after trials in Dnipro. Beyond Ukraine, Tatra-Yug trams have also achieved international success, demonstrating high reliability in Egypt.
