Bursa FotoFest Brings Art Lovers Together

Organized in collaboration with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa City Council and Bursa Photographic Art Association (BUFSAD), Turkey's longest-running photography event, 'Bursa International Photography Festival' (FotoFest), attracts great interest from art enthusiasts.

The 'Bursa International Photography Festival', which has achieved success as the largest photography festival in Turkey, continues to bring together important photographers and photography enthusiasts from Turkey and abroad in Bursa between December 20 and January 20. This year, the festival, which was prepared with the theme of 'Objection of the City', opened its doors to art lovers for the 14th time. Curated by Photographer, Academician and Critic Laleper Aytek, the festival brings together different perspectives of photography with photography enthusiasts with 10 solo and group exhibitions in 33 different venues.

The ‘Photographer Talks’ organized within the scope of the festival are also attracting great attention. A pleasant talk on photography was held at the Merinos AKKM Muradiye Hall with the participation of Bursa photographers A.Nur Türk, Ahmet Sungur, Alper Gülersönmez, Furkan Karapınar, Murat Aslan, Mustafa Mesut Şık, Selçuk Dalgıç and Serap Baykal Özkan. The talk with the participation of Arzu Filiz Güngör, Handan Dayı, Serenay Anık Gök and Yalçın Savuran addressed the subject of ‘gender of photography’. The workshop titled ‘Narrative of objects in photography from everyday to conceptual’ organized for two days with the participation of Denef Huvaj was also followed with interest by art lovers. In addition, the portfolio evaluations organized with the participation of 10 photography artists at the Merinos Seminar Halls gave the participants the opportunity to meet with leading names in photography.

The festival, which will end this weekend, will continue with full events on its final days. As part of the Photographer Talks, Ateş Alpar, Can Görkem Halıcıoğlu, Erdem Varol and Savaş Onur Şen will meet with photography enthusiasts on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Merinos AKKM Muradiye Hall; and Ebru Ceylan will meet with photography enthusiasts on Saturday, January 18 at the Nilüfer Pancar Depot. On Saturday, January 18, a training session on ‘Portrait Shooting with Artificial Light’ will be held at the Merinos AKKM Seminar Hall with the participation of Orhan Cem Çetin. At the closing of the festival, the ‘Come with Your Photograph’ Exhibition will be held throughout the day at the Merinos AKKM Foyer Area on Sunday, January 19.
