The Official Opening Ceremony of the Aydın-Denizli Highway was held with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the participation of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan said, “We continue to grow and develop both Aydın and the region, and carry them to further points in every field. Diversifying the highway connections between our provinces and reducing travel times are among our top priorities.”

“Our Aydın-Denizli Highway is 163 Kilometers Long in Total”

President Erdoğan noted that they had significantly strengthened the transportation infrastructure of the region, which is one of the main routes for commercial and touristic traffic, with the Istanbul-Izmir Highway and the Izmir-Aydın Highway, which they had previously put into service, and continued his words as follows:

“With the Aydın-Denizli Highway, which we officially opened today, we are expanding our highway network between the Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolia regions. Our Aydın-Denizli Highway, which consists of 3 kilometers of 3-lane main road with 6 lanes in both directions and 140 kilometers of connection road with 2 lanes in both directions, is 2 kilometers in length. The highway includes 4 bridges with a length of 23 meters, 163 interchanges, 5 viaducts with a total length of 712 meters, 61 overpasses, 19 underpasses and 11 highway service facilities.”

“We are officially offering all sections of the highway for the benefit of Aydin and the entire Aegean region”

Reminding that they opened the 93-kilometer section of the highway between Kuyucak Junction and Kocabaş Junction on November 3, 2023, Erdoğan said, “We put the 70-kilometer section starting from Aydın Ring Road and ending at Kuyucak Junction into service on October 17, 2024. The first stage of the highway route, which was opened to traffic on November 3, 2023, started from Kocabaş, passed through Pamukkale, Kumkısık, Sarayköy and Buharkent, and reached Kuyucak. The second stage, which was opened on October 17, started from Kuyucak, passed through Nazilli, Yenipazar and Köşk districts, and ended in Aydın. Now, we are officially offering all sections of the highway to the benefit of Aydın and the entire Aegean Region.”

“We Will Save a Total of 7,4 Billion Liras Annually”

Erdoğan stated that the travel time, which used to be around 320 hours via 11 districts via the D-2 State Highway, has been reduced to less than an hour with the opening of the highway. Erdoğan stated that the 220-kilometer highway crossing time between the Denizli Western Beltway Junction and the İzmir Center Port Junction has been reduced to one hour and 40 minutes, and included the following statements in his statement:

“The transportation time from Aydın to Denizli and from İzmir to Denizli via the State Road will be equal to each other. Thus, we will save 6,4 billion liras in total annually, 7,4 billion liras in time and 61 billion liras in fuel. We will have reduced carbon emissions by XNUMX thousand tons. With the completion of the project, we are proud to have implemented an uninterrupted highway network starting from Kapıkule, passing through Istanbul, passing through the Marmara and Aegean regions and reaching the Mediterranean.”

Road is Civilization

Recalling the saying “Road means civilization”, Erdoğan said, “Road means transportation, industry, production, tourism, culture, safety, development. Road means integration with the regional and global economy. None of these would be possible without a road. The same applies to the Aydın-Denizli highway.”

It Will Create New Employment Opportunities

Erdoğan stated that with the opening of the Aydın-Denizli Highway, industrial and agricultural products will be transported to İzmir and Aliağa Port, the most important export center of the region, via Denizli in a much shorter time, and said, “Transportation to our tourism centers such as Pamukkale, Ephesus, Didim, Kuşadası, which are especially crowded in the summer months, will be provided in a shorter time and in a more comfortable way. It will allow local and foreign visitors to spend more time in our touristic resorts and discover different places. This will also increase our tourism revenues.”

Stating that the Aydın-Denizli Highway will increase investments in the region in the tourism sector and lead to the opening of new tourism facilities, Erdoğan said, “Thus, it will create new employment opportunities and develop the regional economy. In short, we are opening a truly historic project in terms of trade, tourism, transportation and industry here today.”

“We have been working to grow and develop Turkey for 22 years”

Responding to criticisms of transportation investments, Erdoğan continued his words as follows:

“I have two words for those who criticize our transportation investments. There is not only a difference in vision and horizon between you and us. There is a difference in intention, understanding and mentality between you and us. We are not a team that thinks of ‘tower’ as ‘money tower’ and ‘municipality’ as ‘food’. We never have been. We have been working to grow and develop Turkey for 2 years. We have only one goal in politics; and that is to bring our country and cities together with the investments they deserve, as is the case here today.”

Erdoğan, who stated that they have made the greatest breakthroughs in history in the field of transportation, said, “We increased our total divided road length to 29 kilometers. We increased our highway network, which was 730 kilometers, by 714 kilometers to 2 kilometers. The average speed on our roads was 82 kilometers, now it is approximately 3 kilometers. In other words, our people can now travel faster, safer and more comfortably. I hope that the Aydın-Denizli Highway, which we have opened once again, will bring good luck to our cities. I congratulate our Ministry of Transportation, our contractor company, and all our brothers and sisters, from workers to engineers, who have made an effort, on behalf of myself and my nation.”
