Ankara Supports 7 Archaeological Excavations

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality supports 7 archaeological excavations carried out in different parts of the capital

Bekir Ödemiş, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Natural Heritage Department Project Coordinator, gave information about the ancient works carried out by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality since 2019.

Ödemiş, emphasizing that the capital is an important ancient city, said, “We continue our serious work to protect the cultural heritage of many past civilizations in Ankara. But as we all know, Ankara is an important ancient city.”

Noting that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its protection efforts in historical areas, Ödemiş said, “On the other hand, we have started to support all archaeological excavations carried out to unearth all civilizations that existed in the past of our city as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. In this context; with a decision taken by our Municipality Council, we are supporting seven excavations currently in Ankara. We are supporting the Necropolis Excavation and Environmental Development in Gülşehri Location, Çayırhan Neighborhood, Nallıhan district, the Melikşah Roman Bath excavation in parcel 183 in Melikşah Village, Çubuk district, the property of which belongs to our municipality, the Hacı Tuğrul excavation in Polatlı district, the Karalar Archaeological Site excavation in Kahramankazan district and the Sinop formation evidence.”
