
AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom, which is carrying out the construction project of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, has successfully completed the first audit process verifying the compliance of the integrated management system with the requirements of ISO international standards.
The audit was conducted face-to-face at the Akkuyu NPP site, as well as remotely at the company's offices in Ankara and Moscow. The auditors examined the design management, construction and installation work management, commissioning work management, and the performance of duties as the owner, licensee and contractor during the life cycle stages of the Akkuyu NPP.
As a result of the audit, the certification body did not detect any non-conformity and AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. integrated management system was found to be in compliance with the requirements of international standards: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 19443:2018 (Specific requirements for the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 by nuclear energy sector supply chain organizations for the provision of products and services important to nuclear safety (ITNS), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
The independent certification audit was conducted by the certification body of the Russian Federation, the International Certification Service, and the certification body of the Republic of Turkey, Kalitest, which has international accreditation from the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK). The certification bodies cooperate with each other on the basis of a partnership agreement. As a result of the audit, the auditors highlighted the strengths of AKKUYU NUCLEAR A.Ş., including the competent structuring of work on the organization of supply chain audits, high level of preparedness for the work of mobile crisis centers, development of safety culture at contractors' construction sites, and the most efficient use of advanced fire-fighting and tactical equipment. The auditors noted that the company's personnel were trained in accordance with the training program on the requirements of the integrated management system. The independent auditors positively evaluated the elaboration of environmental safety requirements for suppliers and the use of agile boards that allow rapid interaction with contractors for metrological support.

The certification body will conduct a second surveillance audit at AKKUYU NUCLEAR in 9001 to confirm that the integrated management system meets the requirements of the international standards ISO 2015:19443, ISO 2018:14001, ISO 2015:45001 and ISO 2018:2025.
