Within the scope of the “No One Left Who Doesn’t Know How to Swim Project” carried out by Konya Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, 8.500 primary school 3rd grade students in Konya city center, Karapınar and Ereğli are receiving swimming training.
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who came together with students during swimming lessons and chatted, stated that children were among their service priorities and said, “Konya, as a city without a sea, is a city that teaches swimming to 3rd grade students. Maybe our fellow citizens do not hear this, but in Konya city center, Karapınar and Ereğli, all of our 3rd grade students who request it are taken from their schools by shuttles and brought to our high-standard swimming pools, and in one term, we teach our children how to swim. 8 of our students are currently receiving education.”
THE PROJECT WILL ALSO BE IMPLEMENTED IN KULU, ÇUMRA, BEYŞEHİR AND AKŞEHİR
Mayor Altay, who announced that they will implement the project in Kulu, Çumra, Beyşehir and Akşehir in the upcoming period, said, “Within the scope of the project, we will have taught swimming to tens of thousands of children with our National Education Directorate. We are ensuring that people of all ages do sports in facilities that meet European standards. The greatest happiness for us is the excitement and happiness of the children you see behind us right now. Maybe they are coming to the swimming pool for the first time in their lives. One of the important goals of our Metropolitan Municipality is to teach swimming to all children who finish the 3rd grade in Konya. Hopefully, we are building new facilities to realize this step by step. I would also like to thank all parents who entrust their children to us and trust us.”
