The Metropolitan Municipality, which wants to make Kocaeli more resistant to the effects of a possible earthquake, continues its urban transformation works at many points. In this context, Barbaros Neighborhood, known for its proximity to TÜPRAŞ filling facilities in Körfez district, is being moved to Derince Sopalı Neighborhood within the scope of the “Urban Transformation Project”. The progress rate in the buildings built by TOKİ in Sopalı Neighborhood has reached 90 percent.
A NEW LIVING SPACE
Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality had initiated an “Urban Transformation Project” together with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for Barbaros Neighborhood, which is located right next to the filling facilities in Körfez district and poses a danger. Taking action within this scope, the Metropolitan Municipality achieved a great success by reaching an agreement with 99 percent of the rightful owners and pressing the button for transformation. Within this scope, the new living space prepared for Barbaros Neighborhood in Derince Sopalı Neighborhood is nearing completion.
PROJECT PROGRESS 90 PERCENT
Within the scope of the project carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Gulf Barbaros Neighborhood will be moved to the Derince Sopalı Neighborhood. The first stage tender of the project includes the construction of 1 houses, 534 shops and 40 mosque, necessary infrastructure and environmental arrangements. The progress rate of the project consisting of 1 blocks and 1 mosque within the scope of the first stage tender has reached 24 percent. The project will be completed after the establishment of the settlement procedures in the area, the signing of real estate sales contracts and the determination of the rightful owners by lot.
