Utts Registration Deadline Extended by 1 Month Due to High Volume

National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS) and its Effects on the Fuel Market

National Vehicle Identification System (UTTS), was implemented to ensure equal competition in the fuel market in Turkey and to effectively combat the informal economy. With the developing technology, the advantages offered by this system and the changes in the application principles are of great importance to the sector players. Today, it has become a great necessity for vehicle owners and fuel station operators to register to this system and obtain the necessary equipment.

New Application Principles and Dates

With the latest regulations made by the Revenue Administration, the registration dates and installation processes for the UTTS system have been redefined. The new dates for vehicle owners and fuel station operators are as follows:

  • December 31 2024 Those who register until will have the right to pay at 2024 prices.
  • January 1 - 31, 2025 Those who register between will be charged with 2025 prices.

These dates are also of great importance in terms of using fuel expenses in tax deductions. Installation processes according to the registration date, April 30 2025 can be completed by the date.

Installation Prices and Penalties

There are also significant changes in terms of installation prices. December 31 2024 If registered until , the 2024 service fee will be valid. If registered between January 1 - 31, 2025, the 2025 service fee will be applied. If the installation process is not completed during this period, penal sanctions will come into effect.

Especially, January 31, 2025 Vehicle owners who do not register by the deadline will not be able to show their fuel expenses as expenses, and those who do not complete the equipment installation may face penal sanctions.

Advantages of the New Regulation

With the new regulation, July 1, 2025 As of the date, new vehicles that will enter traffic will be put on the market with TTB by importers or manufacturers. This will increase the standardization in the vehicle identification system and prevent irregularities. Thanks to TTB, it will be possible to buy fuel from different fuel companies. Vehicle owners will not have to buy a new device in case of a company change.

Fighting the Informal Economy with UTTS

Thanks to UTTS, fuel expenses of 8 million vehicles will be controlled electronically and at least 15 billion TL worth of informal spending will be prevented annually. This will both prevent tax losses for the state and increase competition in the fuel sector. There are currently 500 TTB assembly stations across the country and four thousand technicians are assembling equipment on vehicles. 450 technical services and two thousand personnel are also involved in equipment preparations at fuel stations.

Future Expectations and Goals

It has been observed that the number of stations registered with UTTS has exceeded four thousand in recent weeks and TTB orders have exceeded 1,1 million. With the new regulation, it is expected that TTB orders will exceed two million and the number of registered stations will exceed eight thousand by the end of the year. This is an indication of modernization and digitalization in the fuel sector.

In conclusion, the changes brought by the UTTS system offer great opportunities for both vehicle owners and fuel station operators. Evaluating these opportunities and being included in the registered system will be a critical step to gain future advantages.
