US Neutralizes ISIS Leader in Syria

On December 19, 2024, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it carried out a successful airstrike targeting ISIS leader Abu Yusuf in the Deir ez-Zor province of Syria. As part of the operation, Abu Yusuf and another ISIS member were neutralized. Statement from General Kurilla: ISIS Will Not Be Allowed to Restructure

Following this operation, US Central Command Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla stated that they will not allow ISIS to exploit the current chaos in Syria and kidnap more than 8.000 ISIS members. Kurilla emphasized that ISIS leaders and members conducting external operations will be targeted.

US Airstrikes on Syria: 75 Targets Hit

The US continues to conduct large-scale airstrikes against the restructuring of ISIS in Syria. CENTCOM said the latest airstrikes used B-52 bombers, F-15 fighter jets and A-10 Warthog aircraft. These strikes have targeted more than 75 targets, including ISIS leaders, members and camps. General Kurilla said the US and its allies are committed to disrupting ISIS’ activities in the region and that any groups cooperating with such organizations will be held accountable.
