Stadler to Supply 17 Electric Locomotives to LTG Cargo

Stadler has signed a major agreement to enter the Lithuanian rail transport market and strengthen its presence in Europe. The agreement covers the supply of seventeen Co'Co' electric locomotives for LTG Cargo, one of the largest rail transport companies in Lithuania. Stadler's move will not only contribute to rail transport in Lithuania, but also contribute to sustainable transport solutions in Europe.

Stadler's Entry into the Lithuanian Market

Stadler has made a strong entry into the Lithuanian rail market with this major contract with LTG Cargo. The agreement includes the supply of seventeen new locomotives, maintenance services and spare parts for these locomotives. In addition, the contract includes an option for the supply of an additional seventeen locomotives. These locomotives are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and are specifically designed to enable efficient transport in Lithuania’s diverse climate conditions.

High Performance and Durability

The locomotives to be supplied by Stadler are built to withstand temperatures as low as -40ºC and have a gauge of 1.520 mm. They are designed as high-performance machines capable of providing 500 kN of traction and accelerating up to 120 km/h. For LTG Cargo, which operates on Lithuania’s extensive railway network, these features will increase operational efficiency while also increasing transport capacity.

Sustainable Technology and Innovative Features

Stadler’s EURO9000 electric locomotives stand out not only for their performance, but also for their environmental sustainability. They feature advanced technologies such as advanced electric braking systems, automatic SA3 couplers and winterisation packages. In addition, each unit has a double driver’s cabin, on-board toilets and video surveillance systems. These features increase the locomotives’ operational efficiency and make a significant contribution to passenger safety and comfort.

LTG Cargo CEO Eglė Šimė said that these locomotives are an important step towards sustainable freight transport, emphasizing that electric locomotives are three times more energy efficient than diesel models. Electric locomotives contribute to the spread of green transportation by reducing both operating costs and environmental impact.

The Future of Green Transport in Europe

Stadler’s collaboration with LTG Cargo modernises Lithuania’s rail transport and enables the spread of greener transport solutions across Europe. This development makes a significant contribution to Europe’s efforts to strengthen its sustainable transport infrastructure and is considered a major step forward in green solutions.

Stadler’s electric locomotives to LTG Cargo will transform Lithuania’s rail transport system, bringing important values such as efficiency, sustainability and environmental responsibility to life. This project is the beginning of a new era for environmentally friendly and efficient transport solutions not only in Lithuania but throughout Europe.
