Pentagon Doubles US Troop Numbers in Syria

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced on Thursday that the US has made a significant increase in the number of its troops in Syria, from 900 to 2. This increase was made public for the first time. Pentagon Press SözcüIn a briefing, Major General Pat Ryder stated that there are currently approximately 2.000 American soldiers on duty in Syria.

Many of these additional soldiers are involved in operations against ISIS, and the soldiers are typically deployed for nine to 12 months, Ryder said. He was cautious about revealing where the soldiers are from or their specific missions, saying that information cannot be made public for operational security reasons.

The Pentagon said there was no secrecy or leakage of classified information in the deployment of troops. In addition, the US military presence and operations in Syria are focused on the fight against ISIS and the military operations that have increased in recent months.

These developments come at a time when the US presence in Syria is increasingly in doubt. US military strategies in the region have become increasingly complicated since the fall of the Assad regime, especially with Iran and Russia in power, and attacks on US forces have increased.
