New Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ilgın Will Protect Nature

Konya Metropolitan Municipality is bringing an advanced biological wastewater treatment plant to Ilgın. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, who examined the works on site at the facility, which is in its final stages of construction, stated that they are carrying out a large environmentally friendly investment in Ilgın and said, “Our Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant has become an important facility that will purify wastewater with advanced biological treatment and discharge it into nature without harming it. Thus, we have fulfilled another promise we made.”

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay inspected the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is in its final stages of construction.

Mayor Altay emphasized that the development of infrastructure projects on a district basis is one of the priority goals of the municipality and stated that there will be no district in Konya without a wastewater treatment plant by 2029.

RESPECT FOR NATURE IS RESPECT FOR HUMANITY

Stating that Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant is an indicator of Konya Metropolitan Municipality’s sensitivity to the environment and people, Mayor Altay said, “Ilgın, with its population of 50 thousand, has not been able to provide this service with the means of the district municipality for years. This is one of the most important awarenesses that the new Metropolitan Law has brought to our country. Hopefully, our Ilgın Wastewater Treatment Plant will be an important environmentally friendly facility that will purify wastewater with advanced biological treatment and discharge it into nature without harming nature. Maybe these works we do do not directly affect people’s lives, but we spend millions of liras here because of our respect for the environment, people and nature. Hopefully, it will be completed and put into service by the end of the year. Thus, we are fulfilling one of the promises we made.”

A GIANT PROJECT FINANCED BY EU AND OWN RESOURCES

Stating that approximately 50 percent of the facility is financed by the European Union and the other half is covered by the municipality's own resources, Mayor Altay stated that KOSKİ has made significant infrastructure investments both in the city center and in the districts and wished the wastewater treatment facility to be beneficial.
