With the initiatives of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the European Union (EU) Geographical Indication registration of Gaziantep Menengiç Coffee was approved by the European Commission.
Menengiç Coffee, one of the special flavors of Gaziantep cuisine, was registered in the European Union on behalf of Ezogelin Women's Cooperative with the initiatives of the Agricultural Projects, Geographical Indications and Branding Branch Directorate affiliated to the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department and Ezogelin Women's Cooperative, after receiving the geographical indication registration in Turkey.
NUMBER OF GAZİANTEP'S EU REGISTERED PRODUCTS INCREASED TO 3
Following Gaziantep's Menengiç Coffee, which stands out with its local, natural and healthy features and attracts attention with its caffeine-free and aromatic taste, the number of Gaziantep products with EU Geographical Indication registration increased to 3, with Antep Baklava and Araban Garlic.
APPLICATIONS FOR TASTES WAITING FOR REGISTRATION WILL CONTINUE
Gaziantep, which is the province with the most geographical indications in Turkey with 106 products with geographical indications and 1 traditional product, is waiting for the EU registration of its products such as Pomegranate Syrup, Lahmacun, Peanut Paste, Amulet, Antep Pistachio, Antep Bulgur, Unripe Grape Seed and Nizip Mint.
The Metropolitan Municipality Geographical Indications and Branding Branch Directorate continues its work and cooperation with other institutions for the European Union registration of special flavors of Gaziantep Cuisine.
