Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Wins ELoGE Award for the Second Time

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has achieved another significant success by winning the “European Mark of Governance Excellence” (ELoGE) award given by the Council of Europe for the second time in a row. This prestigious award is evaluated within the framework of 12 principles and 97 criteria based on commitment to values ​​such as transparency, participation, accountability, rule of law, ethical behavior, openness to change, human rights, sustainability, sound financial management, competence, efficiency and sensitivity.

CEREMONY AND PARTICIPANTS

The European Brand of Governance Excellence Award was presented to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Reşit Serhat Taşkınsu at a ceremony held at the Union of Turkish Municipalities (TBB). The ceremony was attended by;

  • TBB Deputy Secretary General Dr. Şengül Altan Arslan,
  • Niall Sheerin, Deputy Director of the Governance Expertise Centre of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, said:
  • Mario Zulicek, Board Member of the European Local Democracy Association,
  • Argüden Governance Academy Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Yılmaz Argüden,
  • Provincial and district mayors, bureaucrats and many guests attended.

STATEMENT FROM MANSUR YAVAŞ

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş announced the award on social media with the following words:

“Ankara Metropolitan Municipality crowned its success by winning the European Governance Excellence Brand award for the 2nd time! As the first metropolitan municipality in Turkey to receive this award, we have once again proven our commitment to values ​​such as transparency, rule of law, participation and sustainability. We are moving forward with confident steps!”

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality became the first metropolitan municipality in Turkey to achieve this success by applying for this award in 2023. This award, which was won for the second time, demonstrates the municipality's determination to continue its good governance and perfectionist approach.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Reşit Serhat Taşkınsu touched on the importance of the award and said:

 

“We continue to develop our services sustainably to adapt to changing economic, environmental and social conditions.
