ESTRAM Checks 1 Million Tickets in 4 Year

Inspections continue on all lines by ESTRAM teams to prevent people boarding public transport without a card.

ESTRAM teams continue to impose penalties on those who pass without purchasing a ticket and those who use personalized cards belonging to others.

ESTRAM, which has inspected 2024 million 3 thousand passengers since January 936, detected 898 illegal passengers. Authorities stated that the Escards of those who attempt to travel with someone else's Escard will be confiscated by the officers and sanctions will be imposed according to the Law on Violations No. 5326 and a fine of 2 TL will be imposed.

In order to travel with ESTRAM, citizens can use Eskart, Virtual Card, QR code ticket and mobile QR ticket, Ultralight ticket and contracted contactless credit cards at the turnstiles. Citizens must keep these cards and applications to show to the officers during the controls throughout the journey.

On the other hand, with the good news of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ayşe Ünlüce, on May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, the subscription card application (Press and Pass) covering all students in the city in public transportation had started.

Reminding that students benefit from Turkey’s second cheapest subscription card application by paying an unlimited 250 TL per month, Eskişehir Light Rail System Operation (ESTRAM) General Manager Hakan Murat Bayındır said, “We are constantly conducting checks to prevent illegal boarding. We would like to warn our students who have subscriptions. Our student friends who think they have unlimited boarding rights pass through the turnstiles without swiping their cards. When they come across inspections, they unfortunately face penalties for not swiping their cards. In such cases, our students who use subscription cards must definitely have their cards scanned at the turnstiles in order not to be victimized.”
