Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak called on young people who are interested in winter sports to attend the Mergabütan Youth Camp to be held in Hakkari. In addition to basic ski training, events will also be organized for the young people who will attend the camp to get acquainted with different winter sports.

A Youth Camp will be held at Mergabütan Ski Center in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari, which is one of the important centers of winter tourism with its natural tracks and crystal snow structure.

Mergabütan Training Facility and Camp Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, will host young people who are interested in winter sports.

Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak invited young people living in the provinces of the region to the Mergabütan Youth Camp, which will be held between November 14 and December 30.

Minister Bak stated that Hakkari has significant potential in terms of winter tourism and said, “Hakkari, which remained under the shadow of terrorism for many years, has started to become a popular place for events and sports organizations with the establishment of peace and security. Mergabütan Ski Center contributes to the development of winter tourism and therefore winter sports in the city with the thousands of visitors it hosts every year. We want our country to be successful in winter sports. For this purpose, we have built an Education Facility and Camp Center in Mergabütan Ski Center as a ministry. We will organize a camp for our young people who are interested in winter sports in our facility with the comfort of a 5-star hotel. I am waiting for all young people living in the provinces of the region to our camp. I call out to families; send your children to our camp. Our young people will have the opportunity to receive ski training under the supervision of our expert trainers and get to know different winter sports branches during the camp. We aim to contribute to their physical and mental development and to help them gain environmental awareness and develop their communication skills by spending time in touch with nature.”

560 young people who will attend the camp will be given ski training

The camp activity, which will be held between November 14 and December 30, 2024, was determined as 7 periods considering seasonal conditions. It is planned to host a total of 3 young people, 4 periods for girls and 560 periods for boys. The youth camp will continue to host young people in 2025.

In the first period of the camp, young people living in neighboring provinces will be hosted. In the other six periods, young people living in the provinces most affected by the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023 will be hosted.
