'Martyr Baby and Child Toy Library' Established in Hakkari

The library established in memory of the babies and children who lost their lives in the attacks carried out by PKK terrorists in the Yüksekova district of Hakkari was opened with a ceremony.

The “Martyr Baby and Child Toy Library” equipped with toys and materials was established in Yeni Mahalle Kindergarten in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Şırnak Yeşeren Youth Association.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, which started with the reading of the Quran, Hakkari Governor and Deputy Mayor Ali Çelik said that they came together for a good cause.

Çelik, who stated that they were living the most peaceful and secure period in these lands, said the following: “If we continue to live here in security and peace, the biggest reason for this is our martyrs who sacrificed their lives without a second thought. May Allah be pleased with them. We know that they are in heaven. May Allah have mercy on them. We lived together in these lands in the past, and we will live together as a nation in the future. What is important is to increase the quality of education, to build the future of these children, our bright young people, in peace and security but in an informed manner. I would like to express my gratitude to our association and our Minister. I gave instructions to our Director of National Education. He made a list of all our schools that do not have libraries. We will provide libraries to our schools that do not have libraries.”

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs and President of the Association Hatice Atan also conveyed the greetings of our Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Ali Yerlikaya to the participants.

Stating that the terrorist organization has been killing people in this region for years, Atan said that the story of the establishment of these libraries comes from the terrorist organization's killing of people, including women and children, during village raids.

Stating that they chose Hakkari and Şırnak as pilot provinces, Atan said: “We have dolls woven by our mothers and women on our shelves. Our aim is to make our children smile. Peace now prevails here. Festivals are now held in our mountains under the leadership of our world leader, our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Our biggest aim is to never forget the true face of terrorism. That is why we are opening these libraries.”

Stating that they had timed the opening to coincide with the anniversary of the martyrdom of 35 people who were massacred by the terrorist organization in the village of İkiyaka 28 years ago, Atan said, “May our library be blessed. We say that our red flag, watered with the blood of our martyrs, will fly on these lands and these mountains. There is no more passage for terrorism.”

After the prayer, Governor and Deputy Mayor Çelik, Atan and other participants toured the opened library and met with students.

Relatives of the martyrs, District Governor Mustafa Akın, representatives of political parties and civil society organizations, institution directors, students and teachers attended the ceremony.
