Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) General Directorate invested 210 million TL in the region to solve the infrastructure problems experienced in the Etimesgut district.
ASKİ General Manager Memduh Aslan Akçay announced that within the scope of the investment, a total of 3 kilometers of wastewater (sewage) and 4 kilometers of new rainwater lines were built on Bağlıca Boulevard, one of the main arteries in the district, and Zirve and Kürşat Streets, which are busy streets. The aim of the renewal of the infrastructure is to put an end to the flood scenes and disaster risks experienced in the region during excessive rainfall.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and its affiliate ASKİ General Directorate continue their drinking water and infrastructure investments without slowing down in order to make Ankara a capital city worthy of the 21st century.
ASKİ, which takes the chronic infrastructure problems of the capital Ankara into its agenda and solves them one by one within the scope of a plan, is renewing the infrastructure of Etimesgut.
FLOOD SCENES WERE EXPERIENCED
Bağlıca Boulevard, which is the main artery of Bağlıca Neighborhood and has a connection to the Ring Road, and Zirve and Kürşat Streets, which are also busy streets of Etimesgut, were occasionally on the agenda with floods and inundations due to inadequate infrastructure. The floods that occurred stopped the traffic flow in the region and victimized tradesmen and citizens.
ASKİ teams working in the region determined that there was no wastewater line with sufficient capacity on the route in question and planned new wastewater lines to meet the needs of the dense construction in the region and rainwater lines to combat city floods.
TOTAL 7 AND A HALF KILOMETER LINE MANUFACTURING
Providing information about the work carried out in the region, ASKİ General Manager Memduh Aslan Akçay said, “In order to solve the infrastructure problems of our district and meet the needs of the local people,
“We have completed the construction of a total of 3 kilometers of wastewater and 4 kilometers of new rainwater lines on Bağlıca Boulevard, Zirve and Kürşat Streets,” he said. Akçay continued as follows:
“The cost of these infrastructure works to our administration was approximately 164 million TL on Bağlıca Boulevard and approximately 45 million TL on Zirve and Kürşat Streets. In other words, there is a total infrastructure investment of 210 million TL. Our investment works continue in every corner of Ankara, not just Etimesgut. We are implementing important investments one by one in 25 districts. As ASKİ, we are accelerating our rainwater line projects in areas we have determined as risky because the heavy rains that have increased in recent years due to the effect of climate change that has left a mark all over the world have caused city floods. We are renewing wastewater lines that have remained under zoning parcels due to changing zoning plans over time and have completed their economic life, and building new rainwater lines. We are also separating rainwater and wastewater lines that operate together on some streets and avenues in order to modernize the infrastructure and reduce the pressure on our facilities.”
