Recently, the demand for saunas has been increasing rapidly both in homes and hotels. Especially with the increase in investments in healthy living and personal care areas after the pandemic, saunas have become a common choice rather than a luxury. However, experts warn about some dangers in this area.
There is a Huge Increase in Sauna Construction
Hazal Esgün, General Coordinator of Atol Havuzculuk, which has been operating in the sector for many years in sauna construction, emphasizes that correct material selection and technical application are of vital importance. Drawing attention to the increase in unconscious applications in the market, Esgün made the following warning:
“We have seen a great increase in sauna construction recently. However, unconscious and non-standard constructions pose serious health risks. Incorrect selection of materials to be used in sauna construction, especially wood, and insulation systems can increase the risk of fire. In addition, saunas with inadequate ventilation systems can lead to serious health problems.”
Uncontrolled Buildings Pose Danger
Esgün also touched upon the uncontrolled sauna construction that has become widespread, especially due to the demand of individuals and small businesses, and stated that such projects should be followed carefully:
“There is increasing interest in home saunas, but structures built by incompetent people can lead to irreversible problems in the future.”
The Need for Sauna Construction Has Increased, Quality Solutions Have Gained Importance
Esgün said that the demand for sauna construction has increased significantly in Turkey in recent years, but the need for quality service has also become equally important. Stating that the technologies and materials used in sauna construction should be carefully selected, Esgün made the following statements:
“As people spend more time at home, especially since 2020, saunas have become an indispensable part of personal care. However, what is critical here is to choose structures that take into account not only aesthetics but also functionality and safety. The quality of the materials used in sauna construction and energy efficiency are of great importance for both health and long-term use.”
