Emlak Konut Elevator: Turkey's Local and High Speed Elevator Project

Emlak Konut Asansör was established in Konya in February 2021 as a subsidiary of Emlak Konut Real Estate Investment Partnership under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. EKA, which started operating within the framework of the “Technology-Focused Industrial Move Program” of the Turkey Century target, aims to make a significant difference in the sector with its zero-waste compatibility and integration of Industry 4.0 technologies. The factory aims to contribute to the country's economy in line with the principles of ecological sustainability and low carbon footprint.

Safety tests of elevators designed in the factory are carried out in a special 42-meter-high tower.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared images of EKA’s factory and production line in Konya via his social media accounts. Minister Kurum emphasized that the factory is domestic and national, as well as being zero waste compatible and using renewable energy sources. “When advanced technology and experience and knowledge come together, very good things come out. We are opening up to the world with Emlak Konut Asansör, Turkey’s first domestic elevator factory. With the goal of 100 percent domestic production in the construction sector, we have now started our work to bring Turkey’s first high-speed elevator to life,” he said.

EKA General Manager Kurtuluş Erdem Bayraktar said, “We are professionals in the elevator sector” and shared the following information about Turkey’s first high-speed elevator project: “We have taken action for Turkey’s first high-speed (6 meters/second speed) elevator. Our work is currently ongoing in our R&D center in the product design phase. We aim to conduct tests as soon as possible and start certification and production processes. Our goal is to become a local and national world brand that competes with major players in the global market and highlights the quality of our products and services all over the world.”

HUNDREDS OF ELEVATORS WERE SENT TO THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE

Bayraktar, who also touched upon the works carried out after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, said, “As EKA, with the understanding of ‘we must first meet the needs of our own country’ with all our might, we slowed down our export works for a while and gave priority to container and elevator production for the earthquake zone. Together with the ministry subsidiaries Emlak Konut GYO, TOKİ and EPP, we, as EKA, also took on the responsibility. We are carrying out a harmonious work together. We are proud to have sent hundreds of elevators to the region after the Disaster of the Century.”

EKA's production factory uses solar energy to meet all of its electricity consumption with its own means. Emlak Konut Asansör, which has the largest R&D center in its market, produces with smart software and robotic systems. The company, which reached a 75 percent localization rate during its establishment, managed to increase this rate to 3% in a 91,46-year period. EKA achieved significant success by increasing the Minister Institution's requirement of providing at least 20 percent youth employment to 35%. The company aims to reach an export figure of 10 billion dollars in 5 years and be among the world's 7 leading elevator companies. EKA started its domestic sales in August 2022.
