
Mardin Metropolitan Municipality signed an important cooperation protocol with Metro Istanbul, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in order to reduce traffic congestion in the city and to produce environmentally friendly solutions in public transportation. This cooperation aims to ease traffic flow in Mardin and bring modern transportation systems to the city.
New Generation Transportation Systems
Mardin Metropolitan Municipality continues its work without slowing down to improve the general traffic order, especially in the city center. The main goals of these works are to alleviate heavy traffic congestion, integrate environmentally friendly means of transportation into city life and make public transportation more efficient. In line with this purpose, action has been taken to benefit from the transportation experience and technical expertise of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
First Steps Taken for Joint Projects
Fatih Gültekin, Deputy General Manager of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Metro İstanbul A.Ş. Projects, conducted field studies in Mardin and observed the city's current transportation infrastructure and traffic density. Following the examinations and technical presentations, a consensus was reached between the two municipalities to implement joint projects. Gültekin stated that they aimed to increase the city's public transportation capacity by integrating the projects that Metro İstanbul has implemented to date into Mardin.
Protocol Signed
As a result of the agreement between the two municipalities, the cooperation protocol was signed by Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Hakkı Gegez and Metro İstanbul A.Ş Deputy General Manager Fatih Gültekin. With this protocol, it is planned to implement new generation public transportation systems in Mardin, reduce traffic congestion and establish a more sustainable transportation infrastructure.
This collaboration will make significant contributions to providing more comfortable, faster and more environmentally friendly transportation services to citizens living in Mardin.
