Education and Entertainment for Young People in Izmir: 2nd Contemporary Youth Camp

The 23nd Contemporary Youth Izmir Camp, held at Bornova Youth Campus between 26-2 August in cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Contemporary Life Support Association, boosted morale before the new education period. Young people both learned and socialized with many educational and entertaining activities.

Contemporary Youth Izmir Camp, organized in cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Contemporary Life Support Association (ÇYDD), allowed young people to breathe for the second time this year. Young people, who both socialized and participated in educational activities throughout the camp, had the opportunity to breathe before the new education period. Young people who participated in fun activities ranging from clay workshops to games such as karaoke, from yoga to dance, also had the chance to participate in personal development trainings on different topics.

“They get away from the stress of the year”

ÇYDD İzmir Youth Executive Board Deputy Facilitator Eren İnan stated that the camp was held for the second time this year and that they are in direct cooperation with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and said: “The young people who come here are university students between the ages of 18-25. Here, we want to both improve their awareness of civil society and support their personal development. One day at the camp is filled with both fun and education. "At the same time, they get away from the stress of the year," he said.

“I feel very fun here”

Gür Arkan, one of the students in the camp, stated that they had a good time during the event and said, “We had a clay activity today. The day is quite fun here. We also have good training in terms of development. "We both join them and have fun," he said.

“We do educational activities”

Berfin Bozkurt, another university student in the camp, said: “We are doing educational activities. I feel that this camp is an example of how our municipality and the Contemporary Life Support Association care about young people. "I'm happy, it offers good fun opportunities to young people," he said.

“We are making new friends”

Seda Kaya, one of the young people who participated in the camp, said, “I am very happy and enjoyable, we spend time with my friends, play games and receive training. It was also a great event for socializing. I feel really valuable. Young people want to socialize but have difficulty due to economic reasons. "Thanks to such opportunities, we make new friends and contribute something to each other, which makes us very happy," he said.
