16 Thousand People Enjoyed Skiing at Hakkari Snow Festival!

In Hakkari, the igloos (snow houses) built by the gendarmerie personnel at the Merga Bütan Ski Resort became the center of attention of the citizens. In the festival area, which started yesterday at the 2 ski resort in the city, two igloos with a height of 800 meters, made by 10 gendarmerie personnel who received mountaineering training within the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in 1,5 days, attracted attention. The 5th Snow Festival was organized at Merga Bütan Ski Center by Hakkari Governorship and Hakkari Municipality.

More than 12 thousand citizens were hosted at the 2th Snow Festival held at Merga Bütan Ski Center at an altitude of 800 meters, 5 kilometers from Hakkari city center.

At the festival, the 10 meter high igloos (snow houses) built by 1,5 gendarmerie personnel who received mountaineering training within the Hakkari Provincial Gendarmerie Command in 2,5 days attracted great attention from the citizens.

Hakkari Governor and Deputy Mayor Ali Çelik stated that they hosted many citizens from different cities in the festival, which included nature lovers, athletes, skiers and mountain climbers as well as adrenaline-loving citizens, and said, “This event has been held for 5 years. The ski center is an opportunity for both our citizens to use it and for our young people to be interested in sports activities and skiing. "It is also a resource area for the promotion of our city and the development of tourism." he said.
