Konya Metropolitan Municipality sets an example for Turkey with its efforts to protect the environment and human health.
Emphasizing that, as a metropolitan municipality, in the second stage of the project, they have completed the transformation of 263 more low-income houses receiving social support living in the city center, Mayor Altay said, “Thus, we have brought natural gas to 2021 families since 1.371, when the project started to be implemented. "We both provided support to our fellow citizens and achieved a 99 percent reduction in coal-related pollution in the regions where it was implemented," he said.
Stating that the third stage works of the project are continuing as planned, Mayor Altay said, “In this stage, we will hopefully provide natural gas conversion of 300 houses. "As the Metropolitan Municipality, our only goal is to leave a more livable, sustainable and clean Konya to our children," he said.

Kerziban Tahtalı, who started using natural gas in her home, stated that she was very satisfied and said, “We were not well before natural gas was connected. Dursine Kara, mother of 3 children, stated that they felt very comfortable after connecting to natural gas and explained her feelings with the following words: “My children can now study in the room they want. My kitchen is cozy. Cooking becomes more enjoyable when it's hot. May God bless our Metropolitan Mayor for bringing such a service to us. I am very pleased. “I would like this application to come to many citizens like me.”
