The "Technical Assistance Project for Improving the Detection Capacity of Customs Enforcement", developed under the leadership of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, was entitled to receive an award in the Machine Learning category at the Future of Cloud & AI Summit, which was held with the participation of academics and industry leaders about the future of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
At the summit organized to reward the achievements of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and related innovations, the award winners were determined by paying attention to increasing the future applications of these current technologies and leading to innovation.
In addition, at the summit held in Istanbul on November 2, 2023, Artificial Intelligence Institute Director Dr. Mehmet Hakkir made a presentation titled “Exploring the Power of Generative AI”. Discussing the issue of productive artificial intelligence, Haktılı made the following statements in his speech:
“For the widespread use of productive artificial intelligence, it is extremely important to address transparency, openness, data security and ethics. Generative artificial intelligence currently works in a narrow scope, with the capacity to perform areas that require human expertise faster and in larger quantities. However, with the addition of dimensions such as causality, it has not yet reached the stage of spreading to larger areas. AI may only eliminate 5% of jobs, but it can create more jobs. “We aim to complete the Turkish big language model by the end of this year and plan to move on to fine-tuning work next year.”
