Organized in cooperation with Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and Dicle University, "2. "Young Chef Local Cooking Competition" continues.
326 people are competing in the competition, which is organized to introduce Diyarbakır's rich culinary culture to large audiences and to reveal forgotten local dishes.
The contestants, who cook their meals at Dicle University Social Sciences Vocational School Cooking Laboratory, are evaluated by the jury members considering various categories such as taste, locality, presentation, originality, appearance and hygiene.
The final of the competition will be held on Wednesday, November 8, at Cemilpaşa Mansion City Museum.
At the end of the competition, prizes will be given to the top 3 participants, and each participant who makes it to the final will be given a certificate of participation.
Ahmet Salduş, Head of Tradesmen and Craftsmen Affairs Department, said that they received 326 applications from university students and citizens in the competition they organized for the first time last year.
Salduş stated that the contestants competed by making 50 geographically registered dishes of Diyarbakır and 20 pending geographical registration dishes.
Stating that 10 people will make it to the finals at the end of the competition, Salduş noted that they will give various gifts to the contestants who make it to the finals.
Dicle University Social Sciences Vocational School Cooking Program Lecturer Cüneyt Ateş stated that they expanded the competition, which was held only among students last year, this year and enabled citizens to participate as well.
Explaining that the competition they held in the Cooking Laboratory continued at an intense pace, Ateş said:
“The participation of citizens made us more happy. Because with their participation, we started to measure whether our students have knowledge about the training they received, and we can see that the plates going to the jury are almost equal.”
Neşe Ensarioğlu, a Cooking Program student and last year's winner of the Young Chef Local Cooking Competition, stated that she was very excited and wanted to be first again.
Ensarioğlu said that it was a special excitement for them that the participation was not limited to students and that the competitors also participated from outside.
